Where sustainable design meets soulful Puglian hospitality
Masseria Moroseta is a contemporary farmhouse retreat near Ostuni, Italy, blending minimalist architecture with eco-conscious practices amidst centuries-old olive groves.
Designed by Andrew Trotter, Masseria Moroseta was constructed using traditional techniques and local materials, such as tufo stone, to ensure harmony with its environment. The structure features one-meter-thick walls with eco-friendly insulation, reducing the need for air conditioning, while solar panels supply electricity and hot water. The property operates as an organic farm, producing its own olive oil and sourcing ingredients from nearby artisans, thereby supporting the local economy and preserving regional culinary traditions. With communal dining experiences and a limited number of guest rooms, Masseria Moroseta fosters a sense of community among guests and staff, embodying a model of sustainable tourism that respects both nature and local culture.
